This Ryzen 5 5700X comes with a factory burn mark. Does it impact performance?
Hello everyone. I received a new 5700X from Amazon yesterday. I was really looking forward to installing it. However, before even opening it up, I noticed a burn mark. I thought it might just be a stain in the packaging, but when I opened it, I confirmed it was indeed a burn mark. Some people suggested it could be from engraving and wouldn’t affect anything. But I’m a bit concerned. I know I can request a refund from Amazon, but I got it at a reasonable price and am paying for it in installments. They won’t give me a replacement; they’d only issue a refund. I reached out to AMD, but they can’t confirm whether this will impact performance over time. What do you think? I could try installing it, running benchmarks, and see how it goes. If everything checks out, I might keep it. Otherwise, if there’s a performance problem around 18 months, I’d consider filing a warranty claim. Another option would be to submit a warranty claim directly with AMD now and ask for a replacement. Have anyone experienced something similar? What would you do? Since you don’t want your money back, you’d prefer getting your new CPU right away, haha.
