This question pertains to the XFX PRO850W PSU (P1-850S-NLB9), its usability in 2024, and potential for upgrades.
Hi Folks,
I’m planning a PC refresh and had a query about using the old PSU I currently have in my tower:
XFX PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9).
During Black Friday promotions, I bought several upgrades from Newegg:
XFX SPEEDSTER QICK319 RADEON RX 6750 XT CORE Gaming Graphics Card
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X - Ryzen 7 5000 Series Vermeer (Zen 3) 8-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM4 65W None Integrated Graphics Desktop Processor - 100-100000926WOF
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CMK32GX4M2E3200C16
My question is: Can I still incorporate this PSU into the upgrade?
I’m hoping to reuse it if it remains a suitable fit with my ASRock AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 motherboard (which will require a BIOS update), the Samsung 840 Evo 1TB SSD, and the Asus Xonar Essence STX 24-bit 192 kHz sound card I already own. Additionally, I checked PC Part Picker and confirmed it has the required connectors for my build, along with an estimated base wattage of 434W.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Cheers!
This PSU was released in 2010. It is no longer advised to use it.
I placed an order for an MSI MAG A650BN Gaming Power Supply from Amazon.
