It's a disappointing beginning since the platform is outdated, making it hard to locate a suitable motherboard at a fair price. Purchasing a used board after the manufacturer stopped producing compatible models is risky—most likely, it will be worn, have aged capacitors, or have other issues. Plus, the CPU itself is quite old, around nine years, and while it might still run some productivity software, it will struggle significantly compared to modern systems from the past five years. What are you currently using, and how much would you like to spend on building this setup?

yes, it seems i mistyped the key. i haven’t gathered anything yet, so i’m starting over. i’m based in the usa, using autocad 2021. i was planning to download alternatives like tinkercad, but this machine is meant for a 3d printer, which might make it slower. it’s not intended for production, just for hobby use. i’m considering a laser cutter and a cnc mini mill if that helps.

Max budget for all components?
If you start from scratch, considering everything—keyboard, mouse, power supply, CPU, motherboard, RAM, storage, etc.—memory is likely to be the most expensive part. AI companies are rapidly acquiring hardware, especially memory, and prices have jumped roughly three times in just a few months. For DDR4, building a system without it would not only save money but also allow you to create a much more affordable and powerful setup compared to using the 7700k.

The model of the Seasonic power supply is not specified, but its age is estimated. The GTX 1070 has likely traveled a significant amount of distance and been used extensively.

it's a GX-1000 focus gx-1000 atx34 srp-fgx102-a5a32sf power supply, included in the box. the graphics card is outdated and has only played movies. i don't play games or overclock. it seems to be around 5 to 7 years old.

The PSU performs well, even if it's not the best option. Depending on the build, you might want to keep it for now until you can afford a better one. We'll find out what the build looks like. Do you have a Windows license ready to use with this system, or will you need to buy one?

I own a fresh, unopened Windows 10 with keys and everything.
Edit
It looks like everyone using it is stuck with Intel for CAD work. My other machines are AMD, and I don’t have much experience with Intel, which is confusing.
