Check if pairing Ryzen 5 5600X with 3070 Ti avoids GPU slowdown. If not, identify a suitable AM4 CPU.

It seems like a solid choice overall. The 5600x could cause some slowdowns, but it shouldn’t be a major issue. You’ll likely encounter a bottleneck at some point. For top gaming performance, the 5800X3D is the better option.

1080p, 1440p, or 4K options? At 1080p the 5600X would cause major performance issues. 1440p is manageable with a slight strain. 4K is completely unaffected.

5600X is a solid CPU running at 1080p resolution. It's causing a major performance issue.

I ran the machine on a 3700X paired with a 3070 Ti for several years without issues. It also worked well at 1440p ultra wide.

I’m just going to say you probably haven’t tested your 5900x on 1080p. The 3070ti seems like a pretty poor choice, while the 6700xt offers better value with its 12GB of VRAM. For used models, you’d likely see something closer to 3080 versus 6800 (xt).

Sure, I began with a 3070 Ti and my 5600X a few years back, at that time it was fine—it still works. Now it’s just not the top choice.

It seems a 5600X won’t always hit the absolute top framerates in certain titles, though it should still deliver solid performance. Based on other discussions, they might already have that setup. If it wasn’t optimized, an 8-core version of the same type would be better, but it’s not mandatory. Whether CPU limits matter depends on your needs—if you can get decent frames, it’s less critical. The 3070 Ti remains a solid choice. The main concern is how it compares in value to other alternatives.
