The system is running a different power supply configuration and now starts, though just 8 out of 16 gigabytes of RAM are being detected.

Verify that the RAM matches the required specifications and fits properly in the designated slots. Multi-socket modules tend to be quite selective regarding type and setup.

I own four identical RAM units and just have four available slots, so I filled each one. It includes: four times 4GB (totaling 16GB) RAM, a 2Rx4 PC2-5300F ECC DDR2 Server RAM model #4011. According to Intel's site, the mainboard supports up to 16Gbps.
