Hey there, I’m excited about my new Ryzen 9 7950X but facing a little hiccup with reading its temperature in Linux. I’ve checked lm-sensors and even looked for all the relevant sensors, but nothing shows the CPU temps. I made sure to use the latest version of lm-sensors, ran it on Linux 6.0.2, and updated my UEFI and AMD μ code. My friend with identical settings can see the temps, so maybe the issue isn’t with the hardware or OS. The only difference between our systems is the motherboard model—my Gigabyte Aorus Master vs. your Asus x670e. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

You might want to try Zenpower: https://github.com/ocerman/zenpower. Remember to run the sudo sensors-detect command, or you won’t catch anything.

This could be due to several factors. Are you certain the readings come from the CPU temperature sensor rather than a board-level sensor? The pairing of CPU and motherboard might also be an issue not yet fully resolved. Since it's brand new, developers should have time to improve compatibility.

I checked the sensors-detect command and it returned nothing unexpectedly. It seems your setup might lack sensors or they aren't compatible with the tools you're using. You can review the chip list on https://hwmon.wiki.kernel.org/device_support_status for driver availability. Regarding ZenPower, it appears to be the standard option for your configuration, though it still didn't pick up any readings. As noted by @Eigenvektor, the sensor identifiers `k10temp_tccd1`, `k10temp_tccd2`, and `k10temp_tctl` are present but may not trigger detection.

Backed by kernel 5.20. Additionally, queries for k10temp retrieve data directly from the CPU, regardless of the motherboard used.

Sure, I can check that. Those are the CPU temperatures, and everything seems to be functioning properly.

Sure, I’ll try sensors-detect once more and confirm answering all questions.

Sorry, no sensors were found. Your setup might lack sensors, they aren't compatible, or they're linked to unsupported I2C or SMBus adapters. To verify chip presence, check the device support page at https://hwmon.wiki.kernel.org/device_support_status.

Sad news. I’d test a live version and compare it to known releases, then submit a bug report on the source.
