Seeing how this is only in pre alpha, I would say there is no reason. No need to choose one over the other. Play ED now and SC later when that reaches maturaty.
I really enjoy playing Elite, so I’d recommend trying both titles. Elite stands out with its unique visuals and interesting features like docking. Star Citizen, on the other hand, offers a larger, more complex experience with deeper simulation elements. The graphics here are more realistic and detailed. It’s hard to pick just one since both games are impressive in their own way.
