Purchased a copy of GTA 5 PC from Best Buy yesterday...the box contained seven DVDs...installation took a long time...now I just need a 5GB update. I've been downloading it for two whole days already. Without those files, I can't play the game. I'm really upset and crying.

It's disappointing, but I'm enjoying the game. The Rockstar download servers have been unreliable lately, which is frustrating. I'm glad I had it preloaded via Steam.

It might be due to server issues, possibly because too many users were attempting to download the update at once, which led to the server malfunctioning.

I don't believe the internet issue is the cause. Right now I'm at 1.48GB / 5.04GB... I plan to let it run overnight to check. I've been trying to access those files for about 36 hours now—no data, zero download speed. Why can't I launch Rockstar Social Club and see my games like I do with Origin?

Because it's not thé same. It's a stand alone launcher, not a platform. As for your issue, well it's on there side, just leave it, maybe restart it.
