It seems you might not be able to play it on your 1440p screen.

This appears a bit unrealistic. A title that modern high-end systems can't handle well isn't ideal... They'll likely push away players, making higher resolutions inaccessible and forcing users to lower settings just to maintain good FPS. Either the game needs optimization (likely), it should be reconsidered, or both.

It was almost identical to the Witcher 2 launch. I couldn't push it to full performance with a 2600K and two HD6970s at 2560x1600. I had to disable ubersampling and tweak some other parameters. The game still appeared excellent. With my present setup (4770K and two R9 290Xs) I can now run it using ubersampling active.

35-40 fps max settings w/8 msaa is similiar to what you would probably get with a 780ti on Crysis 3, just switching to 4x msaa i can run around 75fps and at 2x ~100fps. This is a Next-Gen AAA title and imo its a good thing that theyre pushing gaming hardware to its limits, otherwise why would hundreds of people like you and me shell out the cost of an entire rig on a single gpu? Not to mention the Witcher 3 is coming out in February 2015 and the new Maxwell cards will be out by then.

In game development, improving performance is often delayed until later stages. With the release planned for early 2015, there’s ample time to refine optimization. This isn’t unusual. High frame rates can be achieved with a 780ti even without anti-aliasing or with lower settings, especially if anti-aliasing is disabled.
