Recent update reveals the same issue persists after about a week. The disk now uses a new SATA cable and port, previously connected to a working drive without problems. It’s clear it’s definitely a faulty disk—hard to imagine anything else could cause this. I should have listened to @Mark Kaine’s advice; WD drives are known for reliability issues. Likely time to look into replacing it or finding a compatible alternative.

It's an odd issue, which explains why you likely didn't discover much beyond the fact that WD Green SSDs tend to be of poor quality overall. https://forums. (example) I suggest going with Samsung or Crucial and *verify* they include a DRAM cache. Affordable options usually lack this, which is why they often cause problems.

It seems you're clarifying a point about RAM issues. You mentioned it doesn’t matter if faulty RAM impacts everything passing through it, which isn’t an issue for me. Also, I noted you didn’t need to worry about testing with Memtest86.

If I had the budget, I’d have picked a Samsung right away. Kingston and WD are the most affordable choices for me. Possibly upgrading to a new WD SSD or contacting the store about replacing my current drive could be a good move.
