Hello! I'm trying to figure out why my internet speed dropped so much after the change. Initially, I had a fast connection through a fiber router with solid speeds. Then I moved it to another room and switched to a newer router, which claimed higher performance. Now I'm getting only about 10MB/s, which is still decent but not what I expected. The setup seems correct—cable runs straight from the fiber port to the new router, then to my PC. My main concern is whether something went wrong during the switch or if the promised speeds aren't realistic for this configuration. Could you help me understand what might have changed? A diagram would be really useful.

You're asking about the setup and possible configuration. It seems there might be some confusion regarding the number of routers and network settings. Let me clarify what could be going on.

Check if all connections are operating at full gigabit speed instead of the outdated 100Mb rate.

It's quite unusual, wouldn't you think? You'd assume the tp-link router functions like a switch.

We had a large house and informed the internet service provider, who agreed to add another router. They installed one for each half of the house—Wifi_Named_1 on half and Wifi_Named_2 on the other. I reconfigured it by swapping routers and noticed slower speeds. If I wanted to fix this, what steps would I take?

The provider designed the setup to ensure full coverage, and converting the router into a switch won’t restore those speeds.

Hi! I purchased a switch and disabled the DHCP on both routers and the switch. No changes appeared, so I suspected the cable issue. It turned out to be a low-quality one shipped by the ISP. I asked a friend to lend me a new one. After replacing it, my internet speed returned to normal. This meant I didn’t need to turn anything off or adjust settings—just a faulty cable. I checked the attic and found someone had cut it slightly, likely by accident. Have a great day!
