This update is essentially my final attempt before I hand it back. CPU: 8700k MB: Z370-A RAM: 2x 16GB 3200 CL16 PSU: TX750M Radeon 7800XT came in a few days as a replacement for the old RTX 3060. When I got it, I installed it on my system but didn’t see any performance. After several hours of troubleshooting—re-seating the GPU, cleaning the PCIe slot, resetting CMOS, adjusting PCIe speed to Gen 3, turning off Rebar, trying different power supplies, and even flipping the VBIOS—I gave up. I decided to return it and reinstalled the 3060. That worked perfectly. The next day, I gave it one last shot before sending it back. It ran smoothly for a while after reboots, with DDU and fresh drivers, and I re-enabled the CPU overclock. I played for a few hours, then powered it off before bed. The following morning it started again, performed well for a short session, and I shut it down before going to work. After returning home, I turned it back on, but the GPU failed to output anything. After more tries, it worked once more, though I can’t get it to boot now. I’ve checked online and noticed others with similar issues using 7800XT cards from various manufacturers, but I haven’t found any reports in tech media about this specific problem. I’m switching back to the 3060 now and hoping someone has tips before I consider sending this model back for a refund. Thanks.

During further checks I think the problem may lie with the cooler mounting pressure. I attempted it again with the case facing away, and it started up without issues (after handling). I also tried several reboots but nothing changed. As a last attempt, I held the card while pressing the power button—it worked. I rebooted multiple times, though the BIOS screen displayed an unusual color before normalizing once Windows loaded. After turning it off and reassembling the case correctly, it stopped again. I then gently squeezed the card's center while pressing the power button, which resolved it, and the BIOS screen returned to normal. It's frustrating because this seems like a straightforward fix, but I'm likely going to need to return it for a refund to avoid voiding the warranty.
