I assembled a new PC build using a mid Z790 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 motherboard. The machine fails to power on despite confirming the power source and cables. I uploaded the latest BIOS updates to a flash drive, connected it to the PC, and pressed the BIOS flash button. The system powers up briefly, flashes, then shuts off after five minutes before the update finishes.

When you press the power button, the system initiates startup procedures. Lights may illuminate and fans could activate to ensure proper operation. Additional specifications include a processor speed of 2.4 GHz, RAM capacity of 8 GB, and an operating temperature range between 0°C and 60°C.

Press the power button but nothing occurs until I press the flash bios button. Your Z790 Wi-Fi DDR4, Kraken Z53 Elite 240 RGB, GeForce 4070 Ti, and Corsair 850 power supply are all set.

Trying and not succeeding with a BIOS flash could complicate troubleshooting. It’s possible the board becomes unusable until you finish the flash. If it works without any connections besides power, proceed first. After that, follow the steps below. If the flash fails completely, return the board for repair. Ensure all power cables are securely connected. Install the CPU and cooler. Attempt to boot by touching the power switch pins with a screwdriver—expect a RAM error. If no error appears, check the CPU, motherboard, or PSU; if issues persist, insert RAM into slot A2 and restart. Then install front panel connectors, additional RAM, GPU, boot drive, extra storage, and peripherals in sequence, retrying after updating the EQCH. If hardware failure prevents booting, identify the problem.

Verify the USB setup is accurate. Ensure the BIOS file on Fat32 is at the root directory, so it appears directly in File Explorer without needing to navigate folders. Check if your BIOS manual recommends a particular name for the file.
