Hey there, I set up my second PC yesterday because I needed an upgrade. It’s still a bit new to this setup, but everything went smoothly so far. I chose the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and paired it with an Asus X670 E-E Gaming Wi-Fi motherboard. Beforehand, I realized I needed to update the BIOS before the CPU could boot, and I found out I could flash it myself. I downloaded the latest BIOS from ASUS, renamed it, and copied it onto my FAT32 flash drive. The tutorial mentioned it would take about six minutes, but my BIOS flash light started slowly, then sped up after a minute or so and finally stopped blinking completely—so it worked.

I turned on the PC to test. All fans began spinning up, and the RGB lights on my PC lit up, though the ones on my mouse and keyboard didn’t. There was no signal coming from my monitor. On the motherboard, I saw Error 00, and the orange CPU LED kept blinking. I double-checked all cables and connections—none were loose. I thought maybe the RAM was the issue, but swapping RAM sticks didn’t help. I searched online for solutions, but most fixes didn’t apply to me. Some suggested flashing the BIOS multiple times, which I tried but it didn’t resolve the problem. I also attempted to use an older BIOS version to see if that caused the issue, but that didn’t work either.

I’m now a bit stuck and wondering if the motherboard or CPU might be faulty. Thanks for any advice! Here’s my setup summary: Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 32 GB (2x16GB) KIT DDR5 6800MHz GPU: Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 24GB OC PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 1500W

Updated the BIOS? Did you uninstall the CMOS battery, cut power to the PC, restart a few times, then reconnect everything? Also checked the CPU for any issues, ensuring the cooler isn’t too hot. I’d also consider taking out all components except the CPU and one stick, just to test.

I completed all your instructions. After clearing the BIOS, do you need to reinstall it? Your CPU test came back normal, so no visible damage. Removing the GPU and one stick seems fine—just proceed with starting the PC as planned. Thank you!

Run the system at its simplest configuration to test the 00/CPU indicator. Connect only the PSU and CPU, leave the PSU power lead out of the case. Reconnect and power on. Refer to your motherboard manual to identify the correct RAM slot for proper installation.
