Hey everyone, I swapped my Asus ROG G20CB for a Ryzen 2700X setup with an Asus Prime X470-Pro motherboard. The new card uses an Intel NIC, while the old PC had a newer one—possibly the I1217. Both systems were connected straight to the modem/router and still got gigabit speeds. It’s not a big change, but the ping is now around 20ms higher, which is making me wonder why I made the switch.
It was a compact gaming PC designed for small builds. It featured a 6700 non-K processor, though the motherboard was their exclusive design for this model.
Do you have any suggestions to help with what's bothering you?
Consider purchasing a fresh INtel NIC to test its performance against the existing one on your motherboard.
This problem remains unclear for me. It's making things even more confusing.
I recently set up a new system with the same issue. Using a 2700x ASUS Strix Rog X470 gaming MMO board. I attempted direct modem and router connections without success, experiencing about 20 to 30ms slower game speeds compared to my previous MSI 990FXA or FX8370 setup. Any advice would be appreciated for resolving this problem. I've tried all known methods so far.
I suspect this might be a driver issue. It doesn’t seem like Intel is releasing a low-latency NIC with 20 ms on all connections. Have you checked the motherboard manufacturer’s site and installed the chipset drivers? You might capture a screen of the NIC driver info in the control panel. I think the default Windows drivers are being applied instead of the right ones for the NIC. If you didn’t reinstall Windows after upgrading, that’s probably more likely to occur.
I downloaded the newest chipset and LAN driver from the ASUS website. I performed a clean Windows 10 Pro installation on a new M.2 drive, ensuring no previous data remained. Here’s a screenshot of the NIC driver.
Hopefully that is what you need. If not let me know what you need a picture of
