This new motherboard isn't turning on.
Yesterday I received a Gigabyte H410M S2H V3 and installed everything except the M.2 SSD. I pushed it a bit too hard, which seems to have caused issues. Initially it booted, but after unplugging and forcing the M.2 SSD, the fans spun briefly before stopping. I suspect an electrical short. On the motherboard, there are two pairs of legs (capacitors) that spark when touched together with a screwdriver. Only these two pairs show this behavior. I think the excessive force may have bent those capacitor legs under the board, damaging them. Should I replace the motherboard or is there a fix possible? Thanks.
Yes, you intentionally disconnected random capacitors while the device was powered.
It seems you were trying to convey a sense of urgency or frustration. Let me know how I can help!
well, it's not a guarantee, but it's probably safe to assume if the board wasn't already dead, it most likely is now. did you cause any burn marks? if not, see if you can get the board rma'ed, if your lucky, no one will notice. for future reference, shorting anything on the mobo(or any electronic) is considered a no-no. unless you are 100% sure of what you are shorting, for example, the pwr pins for the front panel to turn on the pc, or cmos jumpers if you need to clear the cmos, these are meant to be shorted though.
You might do that to explore a specific scenario or idea. It makes sense in a context where the situation aligns with the story or concept you're considering.
