Hey there! I’m dealing with a puzzling problem that’s really got me stumped. I’m running a system with these components: CPU i7-9700K, motherboard Asus Prime z390-A, cooling Corsair H100i RGB Platinum SE, GPU Asus 1080Ti, and 32GB GSKILL Trident RGB RAM. I recently swapped everything out for a newer CPU and board, but after installation, the temperatures kept climbing steadily—reaching around 90°C in BIOS. The red CPU light stayed on, and even after installing a new cooler, it still hit that high mark. I tried cleaning everything up, using fresh paste, and even rewiring the setup multiple times, but nothing seems to be working. Now I’m considering returning both parts for a refund, since I really trust these brands. I’m hoping you can help me figure out what’s going on. Thanks for your time!
Did you connect your AIO liquid cooler to the CPU fan port on your motherboard? However, setting the temperature to 90 degrees in the BIOS settings isn't typical. Make sure to reset the CMOS first.
@BlueChinchillaEatingDorito what’s going on with the cooler? Is the radiator overheating? Can you sense the pump moving when it starts? Did you follow the installation instructions correctly? It’s possible the backplate wasn’t attached properly or the screws weren’t tight enough—usually after a hard stop.
The rear plate is positioned there, followed by standoffs. I brought a screwdriver and everything seems snug. The pump feels active but not overheated. Corsair software reports 22°C while core temperatures are at 100°C across all cores.
