I built my first rig in a long time. Everything is installed and powered on. The motherboard lights up and the fan kicks in right away, then it stops after a couple seconds. I’m not sure if the socket is correct, but the ASUS site seemed unreliable and their support via email wasn’t very helpful. Any tips would be super welcome.

You likely need to perform a system update, which involves visiting the Asus website.

This would indicate a problem because your CPU isn't included in the support list. The 300 series is compatible only with 8th and 9th generation models, not 6th or 7th.
