This new computer isn't turning on.
I recently assembled a PC from scratch for my wife and it functioned properly, but she expressed concern about the CPU fan being installed backward. I reversed it, but when removing the heatsink, the CPU came out with bent pins. After straightening them, the system starts working normally except for fans turning on. The motherboard appears intact, but I’m worried about potential damage to the CPU or board. I don’t have funds for repairs and need advice. Any suggestions?
Therr is thermal paste in some of the holes that isnt helping> Id try cleaning that out eith some isopropyl alcohol Also sidenote but a single stick of ram can hurt ryen performance by up to 50%
Based on your feedback at the RAM station, I double-checked whether the heatsink made contact with the CPU when it was removed. It likely did, as it was hanging slightly out. Even after cleaning the CPU pins, I’m still unsure which factor contributed to the fix. Thank you so much for your help!
Clear any leftover thermal paste from the CPU's IHS using a cloth and alcohol, then spread new paste.
