I recently purchased a Kingston KC3000 2TB NVMe as an extra storage option. After relocating some games and testing them, they would crash and the drive would disappear. Restarting the PC restored it, but the issue returned when I replayed the games. Here are the details:

Specs:
- MB: MSI MAG x870 Tomahawk Wifi CPU
- AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- XPG Lancer Blade 16GB x4, 6000MT/s
- NVIDIA RTX 3070
- Windows 11

Hardware:
- HDD1 (OS): Kingston SNVS2000G 2TB – functioning well
- HDD2: Kingston SKC3000D2048G with EIFK51.2 firmware
- HDD3: GIGABYTE GP-AG4500G
- HDD4: WD Black 1TB
- PSU: CM MWEv3 Bronze 750W
- BIOS: 7E51v1A4, EXPO enabled, BAR resized, PBO on

Symptoms observed after crash:
1. Games freeze and crash shortly after launch.
2. Task Manager displays 100% disk usage briefly, then drops to 0%, with no readings.
3. SMART data stops updating post-crash; last temperature logged at ~52°C.
4. Event Viewer logs error codes 129 and 11, plus frequent 51s and 140s.
5. Other tools (CrystalDiskInfo, CrystalDiskManager) cease to recognize the drive.

Troubleshooting attempts:
- Ran CrystalDiskMark multiple times – all passed with Gen4 speed, peak temps ~60°C.
- Updated BIOS to latest version.
- Changed drive slots (M.2_1, M.2_2, M.2_3) – same problem persists.
- Switched to a different KC3000 from the same vendor – issue resolved.
- Verified latest firmware via Kingston SSD Manager (currently EIFK51.2).
- Checked SMART status in Event Viewer.
- Disabled ASPM, adjusted power settings, set Link State to Off.
- Tested with another KC3000 model from the same shop – issue resolved.

Additional notes:
- CHKDSK executed successfully.
- Reference to a Reddit thread for further insights.
- Firmware update confirmed stable operation now.

You've already gone through several troubleshooting actions. You're testing another KC3000 on a different machine to see if the issues persist. A friend could help by running the same tests on their PC. It would be unfortunate if both units failed, but it's possible. Checking the SMART table in CrystalDiskInfo, did you notice any values other than 00000000000 (all zeros) under Media and Data Integrity Errors?

Looking at the CrystalDiskInfo SMART table screenshot. Hopefully I can test the drive with another PC later today.

Hey there, I saw your post too. You seem pretty close to the same issue, but you’ve switched drives and haven’t run into any issues yet. My worry is that your old drive—about a year and a half—might be the culprit. It performed perfectly on Windows 10 before the switch, but now it’s acting up after a month of using Windows 11.
