Hey, yesterday I purchased this laptop from an eBay sale for $999. I’ve seen many positive reviews and thought it was worth a try. I spent almost the whole day testing it and eventually gave up to seek advice. My main game is Rust, and I own another MSI laptop with solid specs that’s been reliable for nearly a year without any problems. I didn’t monitor temperatures or performance stats because it worked fine enough. However, this ASUS model stays around 90 degrees and feels sluggish, especially during intense sessions. My MSI machine runs smoother, achieves higher FPS, and performs better overall. I ran some benchmarks and noticed my CPU scores in CB23 are significantly lower than what reviewers reported. For instance, I achieved 1500/15000 for single and multi-core tasks, and I captured screenshots using TimeSpy at 1080p. It seems like overheating might be the main culprit. I attempted to remove Armory Crate and used a recommended alternative tool, but results didn’t change much. Is there anything missing? Are there any quick fixes that could resolve this without changing thermal settings? Please, don’t suggest swapping out thermal pads. I bought it because I wanted an immediate gaming setup. If I were willing to invest time in troubleshooting, I’d prefer a dedicated PC over spending days adjusting a new build. So far I’ve switched to Nvidia GPU only, updated drivers, installed Windows updates, removed Armory Crate, experimented with performance settings, and limited CPU usage to 100W—though this actually hurt my game.

The power rating varies depending on the model and configuration. Sometimes there are different locked tiers between a 30W i7 and another laptop with a higher wattage, even though they use similar components. The laptop's GPU performance is quite important, and a 4060 is likely a 4060TI if you're looking at it closely. Laptop GPUs differ significantly from those used in desktops.

Unfortunately, it's still a PC—whether you're using a laptop or desktop doesn't really matter. Your mind seems a bit confused. It's not like plugging in and going straight away like with a console. It's nice you had a smooth setup before, but things don't always work the same way again. If you're not interested in doing anything else, consider getting a PS5.

It hasn't been clear what changes to expect. By default, the minimum CPU value is 5 and the maximum is 100.

What is going on? It seems to have been this way before or has always been this. Did you get it from eBay? Is it in good condition or brand new?

If there are thermal problems when the product is shipped, consider claiming the warranty since such issues shouldn’t occur on a brand-new item.

I don't understand how to interpret that number from hwinfo64. It seems to come from using Time Spy. Are you noticing any issues with it?

You weren't particularly familiar with notebooks, right? I noted that you experienced performance issues when running Rust.
