Hi. I found this B-die ram G.Skill Flare X (F4-3200C14D-16GFX) but the problem is that it does not appear on the MSI website on the QVL list: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/...ort-mem-19 It's really confusing because on G.Skill website the MSI b450 Tomahawk Max is listed in the QVL for this ram: https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/170/15359...-16GFX-Qvl Now which one to trust? Even if it is supported, will it run 3200MHz? Does anybody have experience with this combination?
Irrespective of whether it appears on the list or not, the most important thing is to adjust the timing manually.
QVL refers to confirming compatibility under advertised conditions. Likely, GSKILL verified the B450 motherboard, while MSI didn’t test the RAM on their boards. You should be okay—just don’t stress too much. In the worst case, performance might lag slightly, but it’s probably due to your CPU’s base clock rather than the RAM speed itself. A 3200MHz kit would struggle if it can’t hit its rated frequency, regardless of the CPU you choose. The Ryzen 3000 line generally handles speeds well, the 1000 series often faces issues, and the 2000 series is decent but not top-tier.
Even if it fails, I’d still choose Ripjaws V—it ate on the qvl and they claim it runs at 3200MHz right out of the box. Thanks!
Run the G.Skill test, it should function properly. However, sometimes board makers might pose challenges by using RAM not included in their QVL list.
