The CPU and GPU usage were reduced when using the 5600. It's odd. Could you attempt a CPU reset to see if it improves performance?

CPU operates at full capacity—just a slight adjustment before securing the mechanism.

I own an NH-D15S equipped with a 120mm fan on the front. I switched from a 5800x to a 5800X3D since a family member required a CPU, and the X3D performed much better. Something seems off with your setup. I want to verify if the PCIe slot for the GPU is operating in PCIe 4 mode, not PCIe 1.1 or something similar I encountered with the 5800x before. Also, with Kombo Strike enabled, simply choose the "Kombo Strike 3" preset and skip the curve optimizer. It functions more efficiently and stays cooler than using the optimizer, though not dramatically so. Regardless of whether you use PBO, curve optimizer, Kombo Strike, or none, the X3D should outperform the 5600 by just adjusting XMP settings. Make sure to check temperatures, speeds, and other details.

Reviewed the link speed in Device Manager—it shows 4. It reaches 80 (at least) on CB23, but not close to that in games. Honestly, I’m considering selling my AM4 kit and switching to a 7600 on an AM5 board.

Just checked the BIOS settings and set Gen 4 PCIe, turned off BAR, and enabled 1:1 UCLK. Nothing changed. Curious to try the 5600 again—copied all the BIOS configurations before removing it, and I can enter them to match.

I'd test that you adjusted the voltage on your 5800X3D? If so, I'd go back and check it.

you also tried optimizing your games beyond just the classic Tomb Raider titles, right? it might offer better performance than a 5600x yet still isn't necessary. in certain titles, the issue is mainly due to GPU limitations. regarding my setup on an MSC A B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, I used Combine Strike 3 (which has a -30 rating). I enabled CBS control with the core disabled and set the global state to disabled. I capped the maximum power at 130 watts, started with an XMP profile of 3600, adjusted the bottleneck to 100, and set RAM speed and infinity fabric to match 3600 and 1800. now it consistently runs around 4450 during games and about 4350 when I run Cinebench. on my PC, frame rates have nearly doubled compared to my old CPU. with this CPU, you’ll notice a slight boost in low FPS games—those that previously had frame drops are now stable. remember, your GPU plays a big role here; performance will improve more with a stronger GPU. keep in mind that these gains are more noticeable when paired with a better GPU.

It was a solid stock move; I executed a -25/-30 and ended up with roughly the same CB23 but 10 degrees cooler. I kept it core cycling on SSE for about 90 minutes while I was out, with YouTube playing in the background and no issues reported. I’m leaning toward AM5 - Prime Week, and the Amazon employee discount should help me save some money.

a 5800x3d will perform just as good as a 7600x in many titles or even better. so since you already have the 5800x3d i really dont see why you would want to spend more for no reason. especially when you only have a 4070 making the difference out to be even less. of course it is your money at the end of the day but im telling you it wont make much of a difference or in some cases you would even lose performance.

It's really disappointing when the results don't match what I hoped for. Adjusting the CO didn't make much of a difference; the multi-core performance held steady while single-core dropped. I'm planning to build a basic AM5 7600 (non-X) B650 Edge Gaming with DDR5 6000/32, using lower bandwidth for better timing. I also went with a mental approach and added a 420 Liquid Freezer plus a Meshify 2 for storage!
