Hey all So I recently got a new RPi 3 B+, and I've been trying to get Ubuntu MATE or Ubuntu Server working on it but can't get it going at all, even after multiple formats and reflashing of several different class 10 cards. Obviously, i was sure to use RPi specific versions of these operating systems, but I just can't get them working. Is it possible that its just too new since it was release earlier this year? Or is there a way to update the sd cards without having it in the RPi itself? I don't wanna get into detail about why I need either one of these OS's running specifically, lets just leave it at that (I apologize if this statement came off rude). Thanks in Advance!!
I've been showing them off regularly. Turning on the Pi triggers the expected behavior. It functions smoothly with Raspbian.
I own a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and, although I wasn't aiming to install particular operating systems, I worked on several other projects where I often needed to download a beta version that supported the 3 B+. It was soon after its release that I realized most applications functioned smoothly with it. However, it remains a viable option, particularly for projects targeting a broader audience using various hardware beyond a Raspberry Pi.
I've been working with a tool named Etcher on both my Linux machine and my Windows 10 setup. It functioned properly when burning a Raspberry Pi drive. The board powers up correctly in Raspbian. On Ubuntu MATE, the power indicator flashes and shows the RGB square with the Yellow Lightning Bolt in the upper right. When trying Ubuntu Server, the indicator stays steady, the square appears, but no bolt is visible.
I’d attempt to install NOOBS using Raspberry Pi OS or something similar. That might sound a bit off, but it helps confirm the hardware is working properly.
You might try checking other forums, community boards, or alternative repositories where developers share beta resources.
Previously tried that, Raspian functions properly. Appreciate the advice!
They might not have any for those, I'm uncertain. I discovered this, but I question if it will be useful, as it appears to have already been released as a stable version: https://ubuntu-mate.org/blog/ubuntu-mate-bionic-beta1/ Sorry, I couldn't offer further assistance.
The advice suggests the device is lacking sufficient power. It could function, but upgrading the power source might be beneficial—though this seems unrelated to your current issue.
