I noticed a 300$ 9900k deal and since my waterblock fits it, should I opt for gaming in 2020 or go with a 10th Gen CPU and cooler?

Hold off until next week. The 5600X seems to be a stronger option for a $300 budget.

I wouldn't purchase a last generation processor. I'd look for a used one instead.

The 10600k already performs slightly better in gaming compared to the previous CPU. You still require a solid cooler for the 9900k. If everything holds true, the 5600x would likely outperform it. Choosing a waterblock might be straightforward—perhaps using an adapter kit.

They’re sharing false information. Gaming Nexus shows that at 5.1ghz 9900k delivers superior performance across all tested titles, with some games seeing over 10% improvement. Around 10700k offers performance comparable to 9900k. My advice is to wait two weeks and review the benchmarks for Zen 3. If you already own a motherboard and are considering overclocking, it’s likely Zen 3 won’t surpass fully customized Intel chips. In that scenario, purchasing a 9900k would be wise if your setup is solid.

Unlikely to locate a 9900k for $300 used in general. If the deal involves microcenter, it would be tough to miss. For casual gaming, microcenter also offered a $199,970k option which could be more appealing.
