Can’t handle an Arma server on a regular machine, even a top-end one would struggle; better use a dedicated setup. A TS server might work.

It consumes server resources heavily, especially when many scripts are used.

You might be able to set up a Teamspeak server. Even though your laptop has the same CPU, it only has 4GB of RAM, you could run Minecraft servers or similar for a small group of friends during gameplay.

What a question! 😊 For a medium-sized server, you're looking at a solid investment. As for the laptop, it could be repurposed for various tasks—think media editing, light development work, or even as a portable workstation. What’s your priority?

My understanding of what 'decent' means varies. I can provide a broad estimate without specific numbers. It depends on the context—whether you're talking about hosting a Teamspeak server, using it on a Linux machine, or just experimenting online. The actual count is influenced by internet access and licensing requirements.

Teamspeak is definitely in use. Arma 3 is popular, and it's likely a small group playing together on a shared server.

You're managing a high-performance Arma server with 40 players running mods and scripts. You have a dedicated setup including gigabyte internet, an Xeon processor, and 32GB RAM for about $150 per month. Despite the investment, the system still experiences lag once it reaches that level of usage.
