I own an Asus FX502VM-AS73 that was sitting on a shelf without power for about a month during the holidays. It doesn’t start up at all when I turn it on, and the charging LEDs stay off even when connected to a charger. When I lent my friend’s laptop with the same charger over, it worked perfectly on their device. My laptop remained unresponsive on theirs. After opening it, I tried some online fixes—swapped batteries, reconnected the battery, reinserted RAM, cleaned the charging port. I kept holding the power button while checking each step, but nothing changed. I couldn’t locate any guide that would let me inspect the charge port more closely. One article mentioned removing the CMOS, but I’m not sure if this model has one. The machine is past warranty, but it functioned normally the last time I used it. If anyone has suggestions, I’d really value your help.
Can it operate using only mains electricity when the battery is removed? You managed to get it running from the mains after taking out the dead battery.
I also removed the battery before and after reinstalling the RAM, but the issue persisted.
Yes, there should be a power indicator light when connected to power. Check the power jack for confirmation.
