I also performed that task. Once I turned on DOCP (XMP), I adjusted the timing and voltage based on the DRAM calculator data, and after that it restarted in safe mode.

Ensure you retrieve the RAM and obtain a fresh unit.

I believe the issue lies with the motherboard. I contacted ASUS to get their perspective on this matter. I expect they’ll confirm that purchasing the alpha version is necessary to fully utilize the memory’s speed.

It suggests your memory performance depends on the clock speed. If your processor runs at 3200 MHz and your memory operates at the same frequency, it could be optimized. Running at 3200 MHz isn’t automatically bad—it might even help. Whether it’s considered optimal depends on the specific hardware and workload.

It's not about the RAM's speed in general, but specifically the DRD4-2133 MHz standard. The advertised 3200 MHz is not accurate for your RAM. If possible, return it and consider getting a compatible kit that works with 3990x.

Quick update, after having some issue right now I'm testing with Prime 95 125gb at 2666 mhz that apparently is the maximum speed is possible to reach today with 3990x on ASUS Zenith 2 extreme, I was able to post at 2800 mhz but was crazy unstable, so unless prime 95 on the next 12 hour will give me a bad report ( I alrdy tested the memory with mem test 86 for more then 12 hours with 0 error) it doesn't really change having a different memory set. If I really want to have faster memory I probably need to change MB (get the alpha if I want to stay with asus) and also the memory. Since I'm not a gamer and I use it for render productivity if I get a stable report from Prime 95 I will be more than happy

It's great news! Everything about Asus is impressive, and it's definitely worth the slight extra cost.

Err, nope. All motherboard (or really any component) providers are pretty much identical in that they produce a mixture of good, mediocre and terrible models, and ASUS is no exception.

That's incorrect. No manufacturer claims this for all products. Every brand produces both good and poor items. Asus tends to be pricier simply because of the brand name, so you generally get better value from other companies.

My Zephyrus g14 works perfectly, and I don’t find anything comparable. My other setup uses an Asus Strix as well.
