I purchased a brand new Sony TV from the 55X80K / X80K 2022 series. The issue is that it shows a garbage screen when connected to my desktop PC (R7 5800X, RTX3070, Windows 10), but works fine on my desktop BIOS and when using a Windows 11 laptop. It would be frustrating to have to reinstall Windows on my main PC just because of this. Are there other solutions you could try?

Garbage display refers to issues like color accuracy, resolution limits, aspect ratio mismatches, or when a screen doesn’t fit properly on a TV.

Sony provided me with a fresh CK model TV (2022 version). It comes with the same issue right out of the box—it shows the BIOS correctly, but after booting to Windows everything becomes distorted with lines and colors.

Updated version: I experimented with a displayport to HDMI adapter, which led to an unusual overlay. After that, I tried forcing Windows to output HDR, then switched back to SDR, and finally restored the picture when using HDMI only. I’m not sure if this will help others, but it might have resolved my problem. I still need to check a few more settings.
