I recently purchased a new modem thinking it was broken or outdated, but I wasn’t getting the speeds I expected. Now I’m paying for faster downloads and uploads than before. After switching to Ethernet, I ran a speed test and found the results were much lower than what I was paying for.

I’ll need to purchase a different modem and router next time. It looks like this one might be outdated or low-end based on the specifications. Does it appear in their supported devices list?

Your internet service provider claims certain performance levels, but the actual speeds can vary. The equipment you have might not be up to the job.

I don't know I may have to call them to figure that out. I thought this Modem was decent, but then again I don't really know much about Modems.

Do you receive your maximum internet performance using an ethernet connection? WiFi isn't reliable and can change significantly. A 200 down over WiFi might be the limit for your device to manage.

Your internet service provider will inform you that they can't help. Wireless connections don't offer guaranteed bandwidth and operate on a shared network, meaning all devices competing for the same space must share bandwidth and time.

You might need to adjust your plan to save money, but only if you can still meet the required download and upload speeds.
