I'm exhausted from these short-term solutions. My sister runs MC on my PC, but it occasionally drops to a very low frame rate. It’s not overheating or throttling, so I’m sure the issue lies elsewhere. The only workaround I’ve tried is removing the MC folder in AppData and reinstalling it. This isn’t ideal because I have to reset all settings and add servers again every time. There’s no significant CPU, memory, or GPU usage, which is odd. I’m using Windows 10 and need someone to help me out.

Have you attempted a simple reinstallation of MC?

Uncertain if it's a temporary solution and I don't like it.

Blerg, I'm sorry about that. It seems I didn't catch the reinstall step. Would you try a simple restart of your PC?

Check how your CPU and GPU performance changes throughout the session. Look for spikes in usage around lower frame rates.

It stays steady at 1fps and doesn’t increase unexpectedly… That’s why it feels unusual.

not a solution, but reinstalling the game lets you save these files and restore them after the update. These files and folders shouldn't be the cause of the problem, as they won't erase your settings or troubleshooting notes. You mentioned removing the .minecraft folder in AppData and reinstalling, but did you also delete that folder? The actual game is saved at C:/Program Files (x86)/Minecraft, not just the .minecraft folder. To properly "reinstall," you should remove that folder too and then download the official Minecraft installer from the website again.

The game was still functioning at low speeds, ranging from 2 to 8 frames per second, with noticeable instability. This issue affected all modpacks that had their own folders. I also tried reinstalling Java without success. After some adjustments, it appears the game caps performance to just one CPU core when lag occurs.
