In short, I faced many issues with my new PC. It would freeze during heavy CPU use or while playing games, even light ones. I was confused about the cause and eventually returned the motherboard. I tried adjusting the RAM latency from 16 to 15, and so far there have been no crashes, freezes, or problems. I understand RAM can be problematic, but this seems straightforward.

Are you referring to the range of 15 to 16?

No, the Ram kit you mentioned was not listed on the QVL for the motherboard.

The RAM kit comes with a latency of 16, I adjusted it to 15.

You corrected a mistake by increasing the cost of your RAM... but it shouldn’t have happened. Continue playing. Avoid even a little damage to your setup.

Setting Cas 15 likely affected other secondary or tertiary components during the retraining process. It's difficult to determine the exact impact without knowing your specific RAM and motherboard details. When switching primary components, the RAM needs to be retrained.

I bought the C16 by mistake instead of the 15. The model is Corsair CMK16GX4M2D3000C16.

This indicates he’s operating in a gray area. If the RAM maker believed their product could handle CAS15, they’d have marketed it accordingly and earned more revenue. It’s likely near the limit. That’s why they’re being cautious.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite equipped with a Ryzen 5 2600. The XMP profile is enabled, and I only adjusted the latency from 16 to 15. It seems to be working now, but I’m still confused about why.
