Initially I assumed the voltage issue, but I'm struggling to reach 2400 on RAMs rated at 3200. Either auto-voltage or manually adjusting DRAM to 1.350+ and SRAM to 1.2+ seems necessary. Clearly something is off. Did I overlook a setting? For context, the same CPU and RAM configuration previously ran at 3200 without XMP on an X370 gaming K5. Any advice would be appreciated—I've also tried XMP before.

It's the stock bios and the only other choice was locked out of my board yesterday, so I guess I'll just have to wait. How could it fail so badly though? All these boards have been tested for extreme overclocking, and I can't even run stock anymore. Well, at least that's what I thought.

While fixing a friend's computer, we noticed the motherboard couldn't apply XMP settings to the memory. We tried enabling XMP, setting it to Profile 1 with a frequency of 32.00, but booting took 30-45 seconds after multiple beeps and two power cycles. Once in Windows, the DRAM remained locked at 2133. I experimented with various BIOS configurations and voltage adjustments, yet a speed of 3200 was unattainable in both BIOS and Windows 10. After some trial and error, I found a solution: switching to AMD Overclocking Settings and manually setting the DRAM to 1600 instead of AUTO. This change allowed Windows 10 and the BIOS to recognize the RAM speed as 3200 almost instantly—only 3 seconds after powering off, compared to 30-45 seconds previously. We also learned that using XMP on Profile 1 with AMD Overclock Setting DRAM Auto helped reduce the wait time. The Aorus X570 Elite 3800x CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 EVGA 1070 was in use.

The problem came from using an older Ryzen processor on an x570 motherboard. I didn’t know they weren’t officially compatible. It functions well with my 3700X. Appreciate the tip!

Sure thing. Looking into the problem, it looks like many folks are facing the same challenge with XMP not affecting RAM. Since the specific RAM model isn’t in the QVL, it might be related to that version. However, seeing several similar reports across different sources makes me wonder if others are experiencing the same issue.

SOC 1.2 isn't suitable for Ryzen 3000 models, regardless of other factors. Target around 1.175 max, preferably 1.15 or below.

Hi everyone, @RVAxHavoc, thank you for your help. I have a few questions. First, I want to clarify my setup: I have an Aorus X570 Master CPU with R7 3800X RAM (F4-3600C16D-16GTRG). I’m new to overclocking and usually avoid it, but I need my RAM to run at 3600MHz. Like others, I’ve struggled with the XMP profile. After flashing the BIOS with F10, I found a guide that suggested adjusting settings in BIOS under AMD Overclocking > DDR and Infinity Fabric Frequency/Timings. There it said setting DDR Frequency and Timings to match DRAM timing, then enabling Overlock for memory clock speed. I followed your advice and changed it to 1600MHz, which got me close—reaching 3212.41MHz with XMP enabled. Then I increased it to 1633MHz, pushing the memory clock up to 3278MHz, but the system would reset twice and take about 30 seconds to restart. Now the frequency drops back to 2133MHz in the BIOS. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong. Can you help me figure this out?
