This cooler will definitely work well (much improved compared to my previous setup with either a matching chip or the 8350x). Power consumption isn’t a huge concern unless you’re in regions with high electricity costs. You’ll probably need several years before it pays for itself unless you frequently handle large data transfers or run multiple applications. The main reasons to consider upgrading soon are software updates, since driver support is no longer available, and reliability—this unit has been running reliably for 10 to 13 years, so any future issues should be manageable. It’s better to finalize this project now rather than wait, as components often drop in price or you can upgrade later. For comparison, my NAS uses an older Dell Optiplex with a Core 2 Quad; it’s stable but not as fast or future-proof. This new system is faster, more modern, and ready for the challenges ahead.
