Reset your PC feature removes Windows and your applications, yet preserves your files. I’ve performed this multiple times. It also generates a 96% accurate inventory of the deleted software. Locate it within Recovery and Activation in the Windows settings.

Thanks, I'll proceed and check. Make sure everything else remains intact. Does only the Windows folder reset?

Yes, the files will stay in their original spots. Windows will be reinstalled and existing apps removed. Only the Windows and Program Files directories are reset. Honestly, I should have backed it up earlier, but I’m doing it now!

I have my files saved securely. I’m unsure about restoring them, but I worry my Steam account might be at risk. Should I back up the data? Also thanks for your assistance—appreciate it! Just a quick note, I’m keeping this laptop for years to use in school and want it to stay functional.

You relied on a specific method for backup, didn't you?

I opted for the Backup Plus Seagate Ultra Slim External Hard Drive. It’s notable since I typically store around 400 GB on my C drive, yet the backup occupies just about 100 GB on the external storage.

I also use Seagate, and the software should let you recover the backup when required. Best of luck!

Sure thing. But do you understand why it occupies roughly a quarter of your C drive instead of something closer to 400 GB? Don’t bother if I start sounding annoying, and please accept my sincere apologies.

Don't feel like that! This is a forum, you're kinda supposed to ask questions, ya know Is your C drive 400GB in size, or is that how much is used? The backup won't be as large in size as your drive, just how much your files are taking up. Also possibly it could be compressing the backup like macOS does with Time Machine.

I also discovered I need to save my Steam game files, which will be a lengthy process, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to resolve this bothersome right-click problem! I’ll share my approach with you.
