Sure, this setup could be interesting. The board lacks USB 2 ports, which would have been a big consideration otherwise. I might connect the case's USB 2 port instead. It also has a PS/2 port, and I've been searching for a PS/2 keyboard that pops into memory—something from my past. Those old keys feel familiar.
I saw the instructions in the manual that if a BIOS file appears on a USB during POST, it will switch to BIOS flashing mode. That would be great if I could avoid the splash screen. I attempted to download the BIOS from Asus' site, extract the .CAP file from the zip, and use it on the USB, but it didn’t work. Could there be a specific folder setup required? Anyone have any ideas?
It seems the firmware might be failing. The same CPU has run smoothly in your PC (B350-F) for more than a year before you considered an upgrade. It could be worth sending the motherboard back for replacement. In the worst case, your brother might have to cover shipping costs, but based on your experience with this store, they may handle it either way.
Hey, I’m not sure if this counts as a success, but did you ever figure out what’s going on with your new ASUS X470F? I’m facing the same problem too—just can’t get past it. The board only works with a video card, and both keyboards let me restart softly, but they won’t accept D-Log or F2 input.
They didn’t understand how long this discussion has been going on lol
I recently assembled a new Ryzen system (Ryzen 5 5600X, Asus B550 board, etc.). Experiencing the same issue, it would freeze at the BIOS/startup screen after booting. After updating the BIOS to the latest stable release, I followed the instructions on the Asus site—removed RAM, pressed the BIOS button while the PC was off, and the green LED lit up. Once it stopped, I restarted and it worked. Please let me know if this assists you.
