I realized I needed to update the BIOS for this board (GIGABYTE B650M Elite AX) before connecting it with my 9800x3d. I followed the Q-flash instructions, ensuring no hardware was linked first. Initially, everything functioned normally. After installing the CPU, RAM, fans, and cooler, the system failed to power on. The motherboard’s purple lights briefly appeared at the bottom-right corner but then switched off. My keyboard and mouse still received power for a moment after the lights faded, yet no further action occurred. Once I pressed the RST button and cleared CMOS with the jumper, the issue persisted. I attempted another Q-flash using F30 instead of F33a, holding the button for a few seconds. The system briefly showed fan activity and the pump started, indicating a successful update. After confirming completion and waiting 30 seconds, I powered it off, removed the USB, and restarted—reproducing the same problem. During this process, I noticed the CPU light remained on even though the CPU was correctly seated. I’m unsure what to do next.
Yep, reseated multiple times. Tried only one stick, tried alternating sticks. Took out the CPU this morning and checked the pins everything looks fine. Along these steps I was also trying to turn it on to see if I would get a different result and each time the same thing happened as before.
Acquired all new components, yet no GPU purchase yet. I still have my old 6700xt in an unused system that I intend to keep offline for now. Pressing the Q-flash button while the machine is powered but without a USB connection causes the fans to spin briefly and the lights to illuminate until it seems the system can’t locate the drive with the BIOS update—this happens within roughly a second. During this time, the CPU diagnostic indicator appears and then turns off once the fans cease spinning.
