I move from the RTX 3060 Ti to a RTX 4070 SUPER and have a Ryzen 5 5600. My plan is to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Will that suffice for several years? I play games at 1440p.

Thanks for the update. I didn’t realize the jump from a 3060 to a 4070Super would be so significant, but it really is huge. I’ll go ahead and purchase the CPU just in case.

Securing a 5800X3D is essential for maximizing the capabilities of your 4070 Super on your existing system. You'll notice a significant boost in performance when upgrading to this new CPU.

Check how your 5600 stacks up against the top-tier 7800x3D paired with a modern 4080 GPU. This should help you predict how your configuration and goals will perform.

There are always methods to extend its lifespan, such as running the most challenging games at 1440p ultra while hoping for consistent 240 fps. However, generally speaking, given the uncertainty about upcoming releases and optimization levels (like with GTA IV), the 4070S/5800X3D pairing works well.

You're aiming for long-term stability, planning around a three-year lifespan. Right now you enjoy everything on Ultra, and as time goes on you'll comfortably switch to higher settings like 100fps without issues.

Based on what I know, it’s likely you’d do just fine. A 1080p from seven years ago should still work well in today’s games.
