It should be fine to keep the OS on the HDD while storing games on the SSD. It won’t impact gaming performance.

but... putting games on your SSD literally doesnt matter in 90% of cases, why even bother? you're much better off using your SSD for your os, so everything is much more snappy.

It would be best to store your operating system and frequently played games on the SSD, while keeping less-used games on the HDD. This setup minimizes loading times without affecting overall frame rates, assuming no optimization problems exist.

It seems unclear. If your storage is quicker, it should load files faster, but the reasoning isn’t clear. Could you explain further?

I own an SSD with all my games installed, and I noticed a clear improvement after switching to solid-state storage. Titles like CS:GO, Kerbal Space Program, GMod, GTA 5, Star Citizen, Arma 3, and BF4 showed noticeable performance gains.

it runs more quickly, and beyond that point it feels like you're spinning a hard drive.

Some titles load at similar speeds regardless of storage type. For example, GTA V runs faster on an SSD compared to a HDD, but this isn't always true for every game.

Using your HDD as a backup instead of the operating system is a smart choice, as it reduces strain on the drive. I've tried this with two of my HDDs before switching everything to solid-state drives for the OS and using HDDs only for storage.
