I've bought both the CPU and contact frame already. I'm curious if an i3 would require them. For installation, anyone have advice? Thermalright's video isn't super detailed on screw tightness, and I prefer not to compare it to Thermal Grizzly's setup. Also, I don't have a torque driver.

You've already purchased it, so why not use it? It's safe to repurpose it if you upgrade your processor later.

It might not be worth it for that kind of CPU. Usually these are aimed at those familiar with the right tools and techniques. Generally, it’s best to stick closely to the instructions and test what performs best. I think you likely got them from the Gamers Nexus video, so just replicate their steps.

You've already bought it, so considering its value isn't necessary. Click the provided link for Gamers Nexus' video on the contact frame, which begins right at the installation guide.

I believe it's not worth the effort to install it for that kind of CPU. However, if you're determined to use it, painter's tape and markers could be handy. I don't own the plate or Alder Lake; it's just what I think will help with the installation after watching the GamersNexus video and Thermal Grizzly's guide. I'd cover the plate's holes with tape, create a hole on the tape where the screw goes, mark the tape around each hole like Thermal Grizzly does, then place the screw. Install it following Thermal Grizzly's method—using the lines as pressure guides and a pseudo torque counter. Remove the tape afterward.

It's definitely worth it for any CPU when you buy it from AliExpress for just $5. You can also find non-K OC options on certain boards, like the one MSI offers, which supports DDR4.

I bought the MSI PRO B660M-A DDR4, a cost-effective model with solid ratings.
