I own a GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 equipped with an i7-6700k processor. The motherboard includes auto overclock features, letting me adjust speeds up to 4.6GHz. Yet the system keeps raising the voltage unnecessarily, causing the CPU voltage to rise to 1.42 even when only overclocked at 4.4GHz. I aim for a stable voltage around 1.35. The motherboard offers nearly all overclocking settings but locks them out completely, leaving only the auto or preset options. Any suggestions?

It's generally not a wise move to rely on preset overclocking settings.

Makentox :
Its never good idea to use preset overclocking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV-J2TU08Qk&t=278s
ah! Hi Makentox, thanks for replying and subsequently reminding me I followed this thread
I also totally agree Preset overclocking sucks booty.
In either case, he is saying it does not let him use anything except the presets or auto.
I watched the video (at 2x speed cus I hate watching videos and prefer reading.) and I see its done with a Z170X-Gaming G1 Gigabyte motherboard. Meaning the biosi should be similar (I think, hopefully).
yes I know biosi isn't a word or a term but i like it better than bios'
😛
Nick7712 were you using the +/- keys as seen in the video to raise the settings that said auto?
Did the video help you start setting things manually?
Anyway, I only have one tiny dislike about the video. The Overclocking done in the video is too simple xD. (especially for Gigabyte's enthusiast level Z170 motherboard)
No mentions on adaptive voltage, offset voltage, or LLC. (Unless I missed it.)
note: these are considered semi-advanced level options so the lack of them does not mean the video is bad.
More importantly, Before all of that. Could you clarify what CPU cooling method and cooler model you are using? I'ma look through your motherboard manual while I wait for that response.

I notice your bios matches the one in the video perfectly. So essentially she answered the question for all practical purposes.
SideNote: OffTopic
I’d still appreciate knowing your cooling method since the absence of it is causing me some concern xD
Also, if you need help optimizing the overclock PM or want to start a new thread, just let me know and share the link.
Cheers.

I'm using a basic Evo 212 heatsink and just aiming to boost my CPU to about 4.5 GHz. The video helped, but I need more details on the setup.
