Considering your current setup isn’t handling games like Cyberpunk and Spider-Man well, upgrading to an i7 12700K seems like a solid move. It offers better performance and future-proofing with newer technology. While it might seem expensive now, it could save you money in the long run. Your previous research suggests it’s a strong contender, so it’s worth exploring further.

This seems confusing. The 12700k isn't expected to improve performance; its speed is based on current capabilities. Other CPUs are indeed faster in reality. I'd recommend the 5800x3d if you're using the AM4 platform.

What resolution are you using? You seem to have more problems with your 3070 than with the 3600x, especially if Cyberpunk is a concern. At 1080p it works fine. At 1440p it will mostly cap the performance. You might want to look into that as well.

It’s best to get a fresh socket whether you’re with Team Red or Team Blue. I recommend waiting until late 2023 or early 2024 to evaluate AM5 and LGA 1700 performance before investing in a new build to stay ahead.

I noticed that 1080 and 2k have almost no impact in performance, I have like 10-15 less fps in 2k than in 1080p, so i'm sticking with 2k.

Choosing just the Ryzen 7 5800X3D would cut costs by avoiding additional components like a new motherboard or power supply. However, it's unclear how much performance improvement you'd actually get.

The same inquiry continues—what makes the i7 12700k future-proof? It’s reached the end of its CPU lineup, leaving it as an outdated system. Right now, only AM5 offers at least three years of upcoming CPU updates, while AM4 and Intel models are largely obsolete.

It seems the i7 12700K works with DDR4/5 memory, but since it doesn’t have a newer socket, you’ll likely need to replace your motherboard later if you plan to install a different CPU. You weren’t aware of that detail!
