Hi, I'm planning to assemble a new PC and considering the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard. I'm unsure if it needs water cooling. The overview page mentioned both air and water options are possible, but I prefer air cooling for gaming performance without worrying about overheating.

Unless the board includes a single-piece cover for areas needing liquid cooling, you may select—if you prefer air, opt for air cooling.

The VRM comes with the crosschill EK III. Appreciate the guidance. I usually wait until I’m about eight years old before making a complete upgrade (new entire system).

Based on what I've observed, you don't need to cool the formula vrm with water. In fact, water cooling this power delivery might be excessive because it works well at room temperature for me. Before the water-cooling parts arrived, I was using air cooling for more than a month and everything remained stable. I just moved it to the loop since I thought it was worth changing: I wouldn't replicate my choice of water cooling or go for a premium board if I had picked a cheaper one instead.

I’m considering a 2070 super, likely the rog strix variant, paired with a ryzen 3900x board. The ASUS RT-AX11000 router stood out due to its performance, while the many USB ports and 5Gbps Ethernet port were also notable features.
