Are ITX, Mini-ITX, or these terms the same? I’m familiar with the salvage boards in China and prefer not to waste money, so I’m leaning toward older Xeons.
Asrock produced one, the X99E-ITX: https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-X99E-ITX-L...B00W5JSF7O Socket LGA 2011-3, compatible with Haswell Core i7s and Xeons. The top choice might be finding it on Ebay.
mITX and mini-ITX remain the more accurate names, though some models include form factors matching ITX in their naming. It seems ITX is interchangeable with other terms, likely because certain H77/Z77/B85 chipset boards fit that profile. Back when Intel focused heavily on low-core-count Xeons, it was tough to find genuine ITX boards with solid origins—most are either too expensive or questionable. For the 6th/7th generation, I believe it’s a better time, offering affordable basic i5 options and wider availability of ITX boards. Xeon E3s appear to be the CPUs he’s referring to.
CPU options on eBay reveal several 6th generation i5 models priced between $30 and $40 each, with potentially better deals available if you scrutinize the listings. Even i7 models are listed around $60 to $70. The advice is to focus on the general conditions of each offer rather than fixating on specific brands or models.
