Hey, My ThinkPad 13 2nd gen won't start up for no good reason. The red light is on right now. I took the laptop apart and put the RAM back in properly, also removed the battery and put it back in again. When I turn it on, a loud high-pitched beep comes out. What should I do? Thanks so much!
Thanks! Can you tell me more about that beep sound? It's really quiet but high-pitched and buzzing. It sounds like it comes from under the heat sink. I'm not sure if that noise happens when you're just running things normally. Did you try putting a different stick of RAM in there? Nope, no change happened there either. Maybe I should check out another one to see if your current RAM is actually broken or failing. That's a good idea; maybe I'll buy some later too. If the RAM was bad, shouldn't the BIOS even turn on at least once? Oh, and I forgot to say this all started while my computer was in suspend mode.
Take out the wall plug and battery, then hold down the power button to drain all the electricity from your laptop. Next, take a pencil eraser and rub it over the gold pins on the RAM stick to clear away any dust or grime. After cleaning, push that memory stick back into its slot in the computer. Finally, turn it on using the power brick instead of the adapter.
