Take a low-cost item from your grandma’s setup. You might also consider taking out both drivers and reinstalling just one. If it fails, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

I don’t have a grandma nearby who uses an old PC, and my home doesn’t have any very old mice—we all use modern ones. I could ask my sisters or brother-in-law, though they’re not old, which might help figure out if the issue is with my mouse. I also noticed Windows seems to recognize my mouse three times, which is pretty unusual.

I cleared the bottom two components, but nothing changed. I removed the top part and the mouse stopped functioning. After reinserting it, all three worked again. I’m also planning to delete the Logitech software and reinstall it.

The essential is budget. You need any basic mouse without third-party software. Logitech models won’t work regardless of age. Some still operate with a generic driver but lose functionality. I’m curious if safe mode would help. If it does, it disables all current drivers and uses only the old safe ones Microsoft provides. Safe mode with networking seems preferable for easier driver updates. Entering safe mode in Windows 10 is tricky—it needs two restarts. The first to reach the safe mode menu (usually in advanced options) and the second to boot into it. That’s what I know works best. Better guidance should be available online. It concerned the picture I shared previously, where my device manager displays three mice. I also documented this so you can understand what I’m going through.

Link your mouse to another device and test the functionality.

@191x7 Alright I've tested it out on my brother in laws PC and its still happening, so it has to be the mouse then, but it happened on my past 2 mice as well, what on earth? Are all 3 of them just junk garbage? I don't know. I can't afford a new mouse right now, so I just deal with it I guess. I did use some canned air under the mouse buttons so ill see if that does do anything, but I can't imagine there anything in there, the gap is so small.

You can access the mice, flip the switch, and align the spring. Alternatively, if you're skilled at soldering, you can swap out the switches. This issue often arises, typically with the left side since it's used more frequently.
