Hey everyone, I was using an old AMD FX-4300 with an Asus M5A97 R 2.0 MB. It ran overclock stable at 1.5v and boost stable up to 4.8GHz, thanks to a better cooling setup. Everything was functioning well for gaming and userbenchmarks. I achieved around 70°C during stress tests and stayed under 2GHz in idle mode (about 1.7GHz). The GPU would crash after RX 5600 XT Sapphire, but after a reset I identified the issue and am now going full Turbo at 4.8GHz again. I checked Task Manager, CPU-Z, and AI Suite settings—everything looked normal. Still can’t pinpoint the problem. I changed some BIOS settings and moved files in Ai Suite, but the fans are still not adjusting properly. I’m planning a reset to start over with new OC settings. The dynamic frequency scaling seems to have stopped working. Sometimes it drops to just 4.4GHz at base speed. Thanks for any help!

Some motherboards switch off Cool and Quiet mode at very high overclock settings. This isn't normal behavior from the original design. When you're pushing performance on specific boards, crashes can reset things. You might want to remove the CMOS battery or clear the BIOS settings and then reapply your overclocks manually.

I handled that myself, though I thought about resetting the system. It would only make sense if there was an option to switch BIOS settings. The CMOS battery is near the first PCIe GPU, which is tricky to access—you'd have to pull it out and even then find it between slots. I considered replacing the GPU, but noticed some visual glitches in War Thunder, like pixel artifacts, possibly due to overclocking.

Just installed the standard version, everything functions now. Probably the overclock adjustments caused an issue, since this older system has limited capabilities even with XMP enabled.

I just discovered my motherboard includes a connector for an external BIOS switch, which means I won’t need to press Delete repeatedly to alter the OC settings.

In bios you must adjust the offset, enable certain features, and increase CPU power during FX creation.

Some CPU graphics would look great on screen. Infinity Fabric performance could improve significantly. 2.6GHz is the default setting. Overclocking may bring it down to 2 or 2.2GHz, which you can then raise back to 2.6GHz. Raising the high voltage slightly—up to around 1.30V—might push it to 3GHz or more. The frequency tends to stay steady between 2.4 and 2.5GHz, but beyond that it becomes inconsistent.

This board operates at 2.2 to 2.4Ghz now. I'm using the FX-8300 and its stock level is at 2400. It's an older model, AM970. Updated July 7, 2020 by apoKhallipsa.

4300 functions well with a stock cooler featuring a copper core at 4.2Ghz and boost stability. I'm now testing FX mode using the 8300 at 4.4Ghz with an improved cooler, aiming for consistent performance and reduced temperatures during summer.

Increase performance to 4.4Ghz, lower scaling to 1.4Ghz across all cores. Enable Auto only BIOS mode. Set CPU voltages up to 1.4V for stability. RAM voltage capped at 1.6V.
