They take a long time to activate or sometimes fail to start.
Hey everyone, I’ve been facing a strange issue lately. As mentioned in the title, both screens on my computer take a long time to power up, and sometimes they fail entirely. When they finally activate, I’m left with just the login screen instead of the boot process. If it doesn’t start at all, I see only a black screen. Occasionally, there’s a “no input/no signal” message on both displays. At other times, it boots up quickly—around 20 seconds—but that feels too slow given my NVMe drive. I’m still trying to figure out the root cause.
Initially, I thought the graphics card was faulty, but the fans were running and the logo appeared normally. After some time, everything worked fine. A friend recommended checking the motherboard, which made me nervous because it was brand new. Sometimes fixing it involved disconnecting or reconnecting the GPU to the motherboard or power cables. This led me to suspect issues with the PCIe slot on the motherboard or the PSU power cables—especially since I noticed the screens would turn on instantly when I pressed on the cable connectors.
However, other times plugging in/unplugging the GPU’s power cords didn’t help, and I just had to wait or restart the system. The PCIe slot or PSU cables seemed like common culprits, but sometimes nothing changes until I give it a try.
Here’s what I’ve observed:
