I'm looking at Dell servers and seeing many YouTube tutorials about installing Windows Server XXX. It seems like people are probably paying for it, but how do they know if someone is actually buying this? If you try the trial for 180 days and it expires, can you just reinstall it again after another 180 days? Would that erase all your settings and configurations? I'm curious since my setup was preloaded with Windows 2016 and I converted it to an unRAID server. I don't want to waste money learning the system only to have it expire without any benefit.

Many individuals using home labs obtain an MSDN license via their workplace or before prices rose significantly. It's not unusual.
