Hey, do you have any places that fix laptops or computers locally? Just hand him a small bill and they might update the system for you, especially if they have a Ryzen processor. You could also buy a compatible CPU online and send it back, or sell it used for a few dollars less. Even with the bootkit, you’ll still pay to send it back to AMD later.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I'm a college student and our campus is far from the crowds. The store inside is closed because of COVID-19. In the worst scenario, I might need to ask friends for help or use Uber to get to a computer store. It's never an issue of cost for me. Time is tight since the midterm is near and I have weekly meetings with professors. I just can't spare half a day for going out. Plus, I don't feel respected by customer service if I end up paying extra for an older CPU version to update the BIOS, even though they said they could help.

You might want to follow the instructions in your motherboard manual for a BIOS update. To restore the BIOS: 1. Power on the device. 2. Place the motherboard support DVD in the optical drive or insert the BIOS file on a USB flash drive connected to the USB port. 3. The tool scans for available devices and reads the BIOS file automatically. 4. You’ll need to enter BIOS Setup to save the settings. For best performance, press <F5> when prompted to load default values. You can attempt this using the latest BIOS copy, and rename the file on your drive to xxx.cap.

Thank you for your message. I attempted once, but I'm uncertain if the wait was sufficient. Any feedback on previous attempts would be appreciated!

However, according to various online sources, an older CPU was needed for the BIOS update.

It seems the system isn't functioning properly.
